Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception

I picked up this antenna based on the reviews I'd read and the fact that I refuse to pay for TV. I live in a rural area of Michigan and was hoping to avoid the big bulky roof antenna, I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed. Not only does it pick up all my local stations, but I'm 100 miles from Chicago and it pulls in all of their UHF stations clearly and VHF with a little snow. Granted, weather conditions have a lot to do with an antenna's performance but this one doesn't let you down. It also takes time and patience to get the direction right. The instructions tell you to point the antenna towards the transmitter tower. Our tower is SE, but this only brought in a few stations clearly. I found if I pointed it SW, all the stations came in clearly including the Chicago stations. Really was a pleasant surprise to find something that actually could do what it claimed.

I've tried 4 different indoor antennas. Two RCA's which were horrible and two TERK's. The TV5 and this one. The TV5 only picked up NBC and FOX where as with the HDTVa located in the upstairs of my home I'm able to get ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC in HD with minor adjustments to the antenna. If you're looking for a indoor antenna to get HD broadcasts while the satellite provider's get there act together this is a great unit.

Leaf Plus Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna

I received the antenna very quickly, and set up was very simple. According to the FCC maps I should have good reception for 11 stations, and moderate for 5 more. I was thrilled that with this INDOOR antenna I received more like forty stations very clearly. I played with the position somewhat and rescanned and depending where in the room I placed the antenna I received between 39-44. The image is so much clearer than what I was getting with cable. Thanks Mohu for a wonderful product!

This is my first review of any product ever. I bought this antenna as a part of my "get rid of cable/satellite effort" and it is everything it was billed to be. It was so incredibly simple to set up and my channels come in crisp and clear even with the unit in my basement nowhere near a window! Best part, it was made in the USA. I highly recommend this antenna.

Winegard Company FL-5000 FlatWave HDTV Indoor Digital Flat Antenna - Made in USA

really wanted to ditch DISH network, I felt with Hulu, Netflix and HD OTA TV I'd be set. My main goal was to find something that would get all my local channels plus WTVD 11 ABC which is in VHF. Any other channels where icing on the cake. I live in Cary, NC near RTP NC. Antennaweb and TV fool says all my local channels are UHF and 22 miles or less from me with exception to ABC WTVD which is VHF. I am using Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 PCI-E x1 Dual TV Tuner connected to my PC with Windows Media Center. I first tried each antenna individually in the same location and wrote down the channels they achieved and signal strength after rescanning. I then tried them in combination using the combiner and would add the amplifier to see if results were better. I found when I amplified the signal I would get channels from further away but then it distorted the local channels. I found the best setup to be from the Winegard Flatwave alone mounted on the wall in my office about 8 feet high. The antenna is a little bit bigger than the Mohu Leaf but produces all the local channels except for ABC 11 which is VHF. Not a single setup I tired could get ABC 11.1 on WTVD. I even tried RCA simple antenna with bunny ears (dipoles). I found with the Winegard Flatwave that it reach so far away that I was able to get ABC from Greensboro on channel 45.1 in UHF. TVFool says the signal is 52.3 miles WOW! I was still skeptical and we had thunderstorms the other day. I was able to watch the channel 45.1 in heavy rain no issues, I was in shock! So now I get all the major channels plus bunch of other channels. Total around 35 channels and some repeat from another region.

The Mohu Leaf is comparable to the Winegard in appearance but the Winegard edges it out a bit in performance. I also like that the Winegard is not glossy and has a 15 foot cable to allow more flexibility in placement. Both produce very good results for the design and size. In conclusion, I highly recommend Winegard Flatwave antenna and I hope this ends up helping someone trying to decide between which antennas to choose.

Paper Thin Leaf Indoor HDTV Antenna - Made in the USA!
